Leonardo’s
Italian Market is the fruition of a dream by
proprietor Robert Miglino and his late father Frank
Miglino who moved to Rhinebeck 25 years ago from
their beloved Brooklyn. Robert and his family love
the Hudson Valley but they sorely missed the
Italian delicacies they enjoyed regularly while
growing up in the city.
Although he did not live to experience the opening in October of 2006, Robert’s dad is surely smiling down upon the store which has already become a jewel of Rhinebeck, Dutchess County and indeed, the whole of the Hudson valley. In fact, people from 50 miles in every direction now consider Leonardo’s to be the source for Italian specialty products in the Hudson Valley.
Robert’s motto is “Only the Best” and Leonardo’s lives up to that ideal every day. He could easily add a second motto “Only the Real Thing” as well. And although the best and the freshest cost a little more, discernible customers know it’s worth it. Leonardo’s features only the finest specialty meats from Berretta (since 1812), only the finest Italian cheeses imported directly from Italy every week, only the finest prepared entrees made by our own resident chef ,in-store freshly made sauces, soups and specialty pizzas, 14 varieties of fresh ravioli, fresh pasta, imported oils, vinegars, legumes, pastries, Italian cookies, 100% ricotta cheesecakes, San Marzanno tomatoes, Italian sodas and specialty drinks, Perugina chocolate, Gelato, Italian ices, our incredible signature Spumoni ice cream and freshly brewed espresso and cappuccino amongst 100’s of other items that grace the store on a regular basis.
Leonardo’s also features 12 incredible signature sandwiches named after famous Italians and made on our own crunchy semolina bread that people rave about for miles around. Once you try one of these sandwiches we’re sure you’ll agree that ours is probably the best sandwich you’ve ever tasted!
You could literally spend hours in Leonardo’s and the aromas will put a smile on your face the minute you come in the door. Conveniently located in the beautiful new courtyard behind the former Rhinebeck Hardware store which itself features tables with umbrellas, chairs, and strung lights, why, you’ll think you’ve been transported to a piazza in Italy!
Come by for lunch, an al fresco snack, or perhaps an after-dinner or after-movie espresso and pastry.
Open daily – 10am to 7pm. Closed Tuesdays.
(In the Spring, Summer and Fall Leonardo’s is open to 9pm on Friday and Saturdays)
